Individuals who:
- have a natural knack for writing
- aren’t afraid to be opinionated or even controversial
- can write with personality and wit while forming a proper argument to justify their views.
- know how to make people laugh and be thought provoking at the same damn time.
- understand the SCORCH style, approach, and brand.
- can handle constructive criticism, which is meant to help them to grow as a writer.
- works well with deadlines.
Experience is a plus but not mandatory.
THE HOW!
Step 1
Write us an email telling us:
- Why you’ll not only be a great SCORCH writer but also why you’ll be a great addition to the SCORCH Fam. – stay away from the clichés please
- in your own words, what is SCORCH!
Email us directly at scorchwriters@gmail.com.
Make sure that the subject line reads “SCORCH Writer Application.” Any submissions via FB or without the correct subject line will be ignored.
Step 2
Once you get past “Step 1″ you will be asked to write a trial piece of 500-1,000 words. Think of a couple topics to pitch to us. Please do not send an article before chatting with us, this is to ensure the topic is inline with SCORCH’s culture and will also prevent you from writing on a topic we covered in the past.
If your article passes this trial, “yuh on the inside!”. You will be given the title of “Official SCORCH Writer” and welcomed with open arms into the SCORCH Family – and all that comes with that…
THE FINE PRINT!
All SCORCH Contributors will receive their own writer profiles on our website and prominently placed by-lines in all their works.
Given our considerable reach across both print and social media the exposure for you as a writer is worth a kings ransom, so to speak.
We currently will not be providing monetary compensation but you will be compensated in other ways (ie. comps for our events, merchandise from SCORCH and our sponsors etc.)
Our ultimate goal is to compensate all contributors for all works submitted.
We are flexible with the frequency of submissions and only ask that you submit a minimum of one article per month. If that is too demanding we can work something out around your schedule.
