True Selfie addicts know that after taking the perfect bathroom pic, adding several filters and effects, the icing on the cake is the ideal caption complete with that ever so crucial emoji.

How many times after you hit the “share” button you thought of a wittier caption, noticed a spelling error or forgot to tag someone? Grammar nazis are probably rubbing their palms together waiting for the perfect opportunity to make someone correct that “your/you’re” error in their caption.

So all those people who uploaded Selfies in a bikini with some sort of quote from Buddha or Mahatma Gandhi, which, upon looking back, makes absolutely no sense can go back and rectify that nonsense. Yeah we see you acting a fool on IG, daily.

Also, there is a People tab in the Explore page. You can use this to find more #selfie and #foodie addicted persons on IG.

To start with, iOS will be out on September 18th (we have to wait even longer, dammit). Most important feature, however, is the redesign of the camera roll. Pictures will be grouped into something called ‘moments’. Sort of like what iPhoto already does. Apple has also added photo effects, which is basically filters (think instagram) than can be applied during or after you take a shot.

iOS 7 comes bundled with some new apps, most notably: Keynote, Pages, Numbers, iPhoto and iMovie. Look it up if you don’t know what they do.

Side Note: you can use iMovie to edit your homemade…por…errr…movie footage from the 120FPS second camera on the new iPhone 5S. More on that later.

The highlight of today was that Apple launched two iterations of the iPhone 5. Which is the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S. The iPhone 5C comes in a myriad of colours and has a plastic back. It comes in blue, green, white, yellow, and red. The back is made from one single part so no seems or lines. To be honest, it’s something you will buy for you child, baby momma or sidechick just for them so say they have an iPhone. Who say ‘Me Too’?!?!

The inside of the 5C is basically the iPhone 5 with the A6 processor and a 8MP camera. The front facing camera used for FaceTime is better than the iPhone 5 however. It’ has a HD camera that works well in low light.

The iPhone 5S….well we will definitely be lining up for that bad boy. It comes in Black, Silver and a new Gold/Champaign colour. Aside from that, it has the same shape and size as the iPhone 5, but the internals are vastly improved. The phone runs on an A7 chip with a 64 bit architecture. It’s the first 64 bit phone EVER.

The camera has a dual-LED flash, that coupled with a larger f/2.2 aperture should make taking pictures in the night better. iPhone user will know that taking pics in the night is a usually a waste of time. The video camera got an update as well. It records at 720P/120FPS. That means when you make those home movies, you know the ones you shouldn’t be making, it will look more epic. You can then take the footage and load it into iMovie and slow down and speed up the parts where you are doing your best strokes…we mean performance. You know what, never mind.

The absolute best thing about the 5S is the new Fingerprint Scanner. It comes as past of the home button and it’s called ‘Touch ID’. You can use you fingerprint to unlock your phone rather than a passcode. Now, we are sure there are a few guys out there who have fallen prey to a girlfriend who figured out your 4 digit passcode, and unlocked your phone when you weren’t looking. Thereby opening the pandora’s box of sidechick pics, videos and inappropriate whatsapp messages landing you in hott water. This should theoretically solve that problem.

The new phones will be available in the US on September 20th. The iPhone 5S 16GB unlocked will start at $650 USD.

We tested it out and it works like a charm!

On the fresher side of things, a new game franchise was revealed, Ryse: Son of Rome. Reminiscant of 300, it’s a sword slinging game set in ancient Rome. It is exclusive to Xbox One. The graphics were sick, and you somewhat expected Gerard Butler to appear at any minute.

Motor racing fans could look forward to Forza Motorsport 5. It has a new feature called ‘Driveatar’. It is a cloud-based feature. A player’s Drivatar is a personal profile that races while players are away, accruing points for players that aren’t actually playing the game at the time.

Not to be left out of a Xbox Reveal, fan-favourite Master Chief made an appearance. He appeared in the snow covered in what looks to be a tattered jedi uniform. Halo for Xbox One will be released in 2014 and run in 60FPS….mmmmm smooth.

Microsoft announced that existing Xbox Live customers will get two free games per month. Assassin’s Creed and Halo 3 being the first.

Xbox 360
Xbox 360 got another facelift Microsoft announced that the Xbox 360 is getting another design refresh. It’s available today. In addition, Microsoft is showing three games for the Xbox 360 at E3 2013.

This year’s E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) trade fair is more than just the biggest gaming event in the calendar.

The event is a starting point for the next phase of living room domination, as the first set of next-gen consoles for seven years takes centre stage.

This year however, we saw a shift with SONY and Microsoft doing their product launches some weeks ago.

But those reveals created more questions than answers. Neither revealed a full catalog of games, or said anything about prices or specific release dates. Sony didn’t even show their system.

Another thing to look out for is mobile-gaming. For the most part, we all have smart phones and it is easy to download apps for iOS and Android, not to mention cheap.

At the recently completed Xbox Reveal event they premiered the first trailer for the much anticipated next installment in the Call of Duty Franchise, COD:Ghost!

Anyone who has ever been to the SCORCH Office before knows how we feel about our Call of Duty… We’re excited to say the least!

It’s a shocking turnaround for the company, who had previously insisted that BBM would remain exclusive to its own platform.

BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins said that this move was a “sign of confidence” in it’s products. It seems more like desperation to us. After all BBM was the last Jewel in the RIM/Blackberry crown, but I guess we will just have to see how things develop from here.

Andrew Bocking, Executive Vice President, Software Product Management and Ecosystem, at BlackBerry, said:

For BlackBerry, messaging and collaboration are inseparable from the mobile experience, and the time is definitely right for BBM to become a multi-platform mobile service.

BBM has always been one of the most engaging services for BlackBerry customers, enabling them to easily connect while maintaining a valued level of personal privacy. We’re excited to offer iOS and Android users the possibility to join the BBM community.

At first just BBM text and group messaging will be available in the standalone app, but other services including video calling will follow.

I’m not too sure how I feel about this announcement. I have adjusted to life without BBM rather easily, and so have many of my peers.

So much so, when I hear “BBM”  now I think the “B-word” and it takes me back to a very annoying time. I for one enjoyed the not having to wade through dozens of mindless broadcast per day. Everything from “send this to 10 people and Jesus will manifest himself to you in 10 minutes” to “my baby has been stolen please call 222-5555 if you get word of their whereabouts” , it was all too much…
